Jollibee staff take care of infant found abandoned in front of store
Crew at a fast food chain showed humanity at its best when they went the extra mile to care for an abandoned baby.
A baby is a gift and a blessing.
But sadly, for an unknown reason, a newborn baby boy was found abandoned outside the Jollibee fast food outlet in Imus, the capital city of Cavite, in the Philippines, one day in mid-June.
The baby was discovered by a traffic enforcer at around 11:30 a.m., Coconuts Manila reported.
The traffic enforcer brought the infant into the Jollibee store.
Staff at the outlet were more than willing to care for the adorable baby.
“He seems to be a newborn. His navel wound is fresh and he has some blood on his forehead. It’s like someone was in a hurry to clean him then left him,” Jollibee staff member Jesica Tan Verano told ABS-CBN News.
The crew changed the baby’s nappy, cleaned him, kept him warm, and even went to the extent of breastfeeding him!
The supervisor volunteered to breastfeed the infant, and this moment was caught on camera by Verano.
Verano later shared the photos on Facebook, writing: “Whoever left this baby near Jollibee Pag-asa, Imus, you are accountable to God. The baby is so cute!!! I want to cry because his/her useless parents abandoned him/her.. DSWD will take her… I want to have this baby!!!!”
Verano’s post has gone viral, racking up more than 39,000 reactions and 47,000 shares, with many expressing sympathy for the poor boy.
“The baby is so pathetic,” one wrote.
The baby was placed in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Cavite, while authorities search for his parents.
Kudos to the crew at Jollibee for giving the boy—who had a bad start in life—comfort! May the infant grow up healthy, and jolly!
