Lady pays a struggling stranger’s phone bill, just then he receives text for a job offer
A woman from Anchorage, Alaska, was heading toward a local convenience store when she ended up being a guardian angel for a down-on-his-luck man. Although this inspiring incident happened in May 2016, the power of kindness it displays still touches a deep chord in people’s hearts.
Kenyada Waters saw a man standing on the side of the road with a sign in his hands. The signboard read, “Laid off 2 Long. Anything helps.” Reading those sharp heartbreaking words, she stepped out of her car to check on him.
“Today I saw a man standing on the side of the road with a sign! And God told me to give him my card and hire him to do some labor work for my business!” Waters wrote in her Facebook post.
During their conversation, she came to know the man’s name was Richard Poulin, and he had worked as a tree climber and cutter for over 20 years.
Poulin had got laid off a few months ago and had “really been struggling to keep his feet on the ground.” And now he was on the verge of being evicted from his apartment due to the lack of funds.
“[H]e was so embarrassed to be standing on the side of the road asking for money but he had to do what he has to do to get his cell phone cut back on so he could get hired!” Waters recalled.
She said that with his mobile phone number being cut off, he couldn’t receive any updates for the jobs he had applied for, which led to him missing a lot of employment opportunities.
“[H]e’s just a good guy having a hard time and had exhausted all of his resources!” she wrote.
Learning about his pitiable state, Waters knew exactly what to do and took Poulin to a nearby AT&T store.
“So God told me to pay for his cell phone and not only did I pay for it one month but I paid for two months!!!!” she said.
Touched by Waters’s selfless act, Poulin couldn’t help but cry. “I told him it was all God! And to not let ignorance hurt him!” recalled Waters.
When Waters was sharing a friendly lunch with Poulin, he received a text message on his cell phone.
“It was from one of the job that he applied to saying that he could possibly have a job in two weeks in Kenai!!!! Wow!!!!!! Gods timing is perfect!” she wrote.
My testimonyDo what God tells you too!Prayers for Richard!!!!!Today I saw a man standing on the side of the road…
Waters noted that she shared this post to “show that there is power and purpose in being obedient to God!”
“Stop judging the homeless and struggling! Not everyone is lazy and an addict! It might be you one day! Extend your hand don’t point it!” she said.
