Senior microchipped dog rescued near train tracks, now enjoys ‘puppyhood’ at new forever home

This beautiful story of hope and loving kindness validates how a simple act of compassion has the mighty power to transform anyone’s life—be they human or non-human.

One chilly day, a few men strolling down the road near a railway track in Romania caught sight of a stray dog looking for food. The concerned people didn’t want to leave the dog behind and shuddered at the mere thought that the canine might get hit by a train. So, they set out to try and catch it.

The shy and scared dog ran away every time the kind people tried to approach him. They then decided it was best to call the local animal rescue group, Howl of a Dog.

Dog Saved From Railroad – Howl Of A Dog Rescue

NEW RESCUEBobi is an old dog who was living near a railroad station. Always in danger of being hit by passing trains, he just couldn’t have found a worse place than that.He is now safe with us at Howl Of A Dog . We scanned him for a microchip and discovered that he had an owner! We were hoping for a happy reunion, but when we contacted the registered owner he told us he does not want the dog back and asked us to take him. Apparently, Bobi (this is the name given by his owner) ran away from home in August and traveled quite a long distance, being found more than 15 km away from his home. We do not want to judge anyone, we’re just thankful that we were able to save this sweet little boy.He is now sleeping a lot, we’re not sure if he’s just very tired or maybe relieved to finally feel safe and warm.We performed a first set of medical investigations: vision is weak, especially on the left eye; he has a mild limping and old scars and blood tests revealed high cholesterol. If you can help us carry on his medical examinations and care, please visit our website: http://www.howlofadog.org/make-a-donation/ We will be back with more details in the following period. Thank you so much!!!www. HowlOfADog.org #HowlOfADog

When the rescue team arrived on the scene, they set out to work to catch the stray. But the more they tried, the further he ran. Then, the team tried chasing him away from the train tracks towards the road—and this time the trick seemed to work.

After a while, the dog “sensed” that the rescuers were his friends. He submitted to them and allowed the team to take him in. The little dog was then transported to the shelter, where he was examined.

“We performed a first set of medical investigations: vision is weak, especially on the left eye; he has a mild limping and old scars and blood tests revealed high cholesterol,” the team posted on their Facebook page.

To the vet’s surprise, he was microchipped! They discovered the pooch’s name was Bobi, and he was 9 years old. Everyone was happy for Bobi, thinking that most probably he just lost his way, as he was found just 10 miles from his home.

However, when staff at the shelter contacted the owner, they were heartbroken. The owner told them he didn’t want Bobi and asked them to please take the dog.

“We do not want to judge anyone, we’re just thankful that we were able to save this sweet little boy,” the team said.

The volunteers took in Bobi and showered him with love and care. Gradually, Bobi revealed his wonderful character. Eventually, there was another happy twist in this sweet canine’s life. The rescue shelter soon confirmed Bobi’s adoption by a lovely couple, Donny and Dawn, from Delaware in the United States.

“Bobi’s adoptive parents have a lot of experience with senior dogs, having adopted many dogs in need over the years, and being able to offer Bobi the best care,” the team’s website updated.

It’s a fun-filled household, and it is just perfect for Bobi! Now, he loves playing with his two other furry brothers, called Bo and Jack, and snoozing by the big, warm fireplace in the family sitting room.

Bobi is happy again in his golden years; he is living life to the fullest with a family that adores him.

“He may be ‘technically’ a senior dog, but Bobi is still playful and curious. It’s like he’s living now the puppyhood he missed,” the team said.
