Two German shepherds that share unbreakable bond get adopted together

They say “a picture is worth a thousand words,” and it most certainly holds true for this picture of two dogs nestled together. Looking at the photo, one cannot deny seeing nothing but love.

Many animals display emotions, and man’s best friend is one. It is commonly known that dogs feel happiness, sadness, and loneliness.

So when a photo of two stray German shepherds being affectionate with one another and where they had a vulnerable look hit the internet, thousands of hearts were moved. In that single moment, a loving bond shared between the two animals was perfectly captured for all to see.

The pair were found in a barn at the age of around 3 months old, according to Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue’s Facebook post. Four months later in November 2017, the duo were taken to the rescue organization in hopes the center could help find a permanent home. There was one catch though: separation was not possible.

It was apparent to staff that Gus and Laurie shared an incredible and close bond with one another.

“They’ve only ever known each other,” the rescue organization stated. “They’re around 7 months old now and we are so hopeful that we can find someone to keep these two together. If you’re looking for a bonded pair, look no further.”

The picture of Gus and Laurie soon went viral, and the organization was flooded with adoption requests.

In a followup post, the shelter posted: “They just arrived to their foster today in northern Virginia so we don’t know much about them yet. They are not aggressive but are in need of socialization.”

There is no background information about the two strays prior to being found, but whatever Gus and Laurie went through, they did it together.

Luckily, the pair didn’t need to wait long for Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue to find a forever home for both of them.
